When Life Pulls You Everywhere, Lean Into Jesus

Discover how to find peace, clarity, and strength by leaning on the One who never fails.

Anchor of the Week

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." – John 14:6 (NIV)

Welcome to all our new subscribers! I’m so grateful you’re here! And to those who have been here week after week, I can’t say thank you enough. ❤️🙏🏻

This week, I want to discuss something that resonated with me after watching the movie Jesus Revolution. (If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Here’s the 👉link to the movie trailer.)

Anyways, the gist of the movie (without ruining it for anyone) is that it’s based on a true story set in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when a wave of hippies, characterized by their long hair, bare feet, and flower crowns, embark on a radical search for truth. But in their quest, it turns out they were looking everywhere except for the one place where truth actually lives. Well, until the day they met Jesus. And when they did, they leaned in hard. It sparked a revival that broke through church walls, shook up religion-as-usual, and proved that Jesus welcomes outsiders, skeptics, outcasts, and seekers alike.

It made me think: everyone is seeking something. Security. Love. Peace. Meaning. And sometimes, even as believers, we get caught searching in the wrong aisles. But Jesus says He is the way — not a way, the way. He is the truth — not a truth, the truth. And He is the life, not just a mediocre life either, but a life full of joy, abundance, and peace.

Leaning into Jesus isn’t a one-time deal; it’s a daily choice. It’s resisting the urge to run to quick fixes and empty promises, instead of turning our hearts toward the only One who can truly satisfy us. If you watch the movie, please send me an email and let me know if you found it as inspiring as I did.

This Week’s Reflection

We can think of leaning into Jesus like leaning on a sturdy railing when you’re standing somewhere high. You trust it completely, because you know it will hold you. Life will offer you plenty of wobbly rails, which may be money, relationships, or health-related wobbles, but only Jesus will never give way.

Ways to Lean Into Jesus More This Week

  1. Start Your Day With Him – Before your feet hit the floor, whisper, “Jesus, thank you for this day, I trust You.”

  2. Trade Worry for Prayer – Every time a worry pops up, turn it into a one-line prayer. ex: “Lord, You see what I can’t. I trust You to work this out for my good.”

  3. Make Him Part of Everything – Invite Him into your errands, your lunch break, even your Netflix binge. ex: “Lord, be part of this with me. Let me bring kindness, patience, and gratitude into every interaction today.” “Jesus, sit with me.” Thank Him for rest, for your food, and ask for discernment in what you watch.

  4. Keep His Word Close – Carry a verse in your pocket or set a verse as your phone wallpaper to keep as reminders and to pull out in moments of weakness. Here are a few I created to download for free————> Click Here For Free Phone Wallpaper

  5. Listen for His Voice – Create quiet moments in your day: meditate on His word, incorporate a peaceful walk in nature, or just be still before Him.

Speaking of meditation, this week’s new meditation is all about leaning into Jesus. When life feels uncertain or overwhelming, He is our steady place, our guiding truth, and our source of peace. In this practice, we’ll set aside distractions, quiet our hearts, and draw near to the One who is the way, the truth, and the life. As you lean into Him, it is my prayer that you find the strength, clarity, and comfort your soul has been searching for. 🙏🏻❤️

Bible Story: Peter Leaning Into Jesus

Peter’s life shows us the raw, messy, beautiful process of learning to lean fully into Christ. When Jesus first called Peter by the Sea of Galilee, Peter wasn’t exactly the polished “rock” Jesus said he’d one day become. He was an ordinary fisherman, worn out by long nights of casting nets and catching nothing. Yet, when Jesus told him, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch,” Peter obeyed, even though it made no sense. The result was nothing short of amazing! Nets so full of fish they began to break! This was Peter’s first taste of what happens when you lean into Jesus: the impossible becomes possible.

Later, Peter experienced what might be his most famous moment of faith and failure, walking on water. When the storm raged and waves pounded the boat, Jesus appeared, calm in the chaos. Peter cried out, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said one word: “Come.” And for a few glorious steps, Peter actually walked on water, because his eyes were locked on Jesus. The moment he looked at the waves instead, fear dragged him down — but even then, as Peter sank, he leaned into Jesus again with a desperate cry: “Lord, save me!” And immediately, Jesus reached out His hand.

Peter leaned into Jesus again at the Last Supper, swearing he would never deny Him —only to crumble hours later under pressure. Three times, he denied knowing Jesus. Yet even in failure, Peter’s story didn’t end there. After the resurrection, Jesus sought him out on the shore, cooked him breakfast, and restored him with the words, “Feed my sheep.” Peter learned that leaning into Jesus means bringing not just our strength, but our weakness, our shame, and our failures too. And when the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, Peter — the same man who once sank in fear — boldly preached the gospel, and three thousand souls were saved in one day. That’s the fruit of a life that learns, again and again, to lean into Jesus.

Prayer for the Week

Lord, help me lean into You instead of the world’s distractions. Teach me to trust that You are the way when I feel lost, the truth when I feel confused, and the life when I feel worn out. Let my heart seek You first and always, Amen.

Final Thoughts

Leaning into Jesus is not just about Sundays or when we’re in a crisis; it’s about a constant, conscious turning toward Him. The hippies in Jesus Revolution didn’t have it all together, but they were willing to open their hearts to God. Maybe that’s where we start, too, with open hands, open hearts, and making the decision to choose Him over everything else.

See you here next Sunday!

Love and Peace,

Amber
