I Never Thought I’d Start Over at 46... Until God Changed Everything

I’m writing this today with a full heart. As of Thursday, Anchored in Faith reached 1,000 subscribers on YouTube.
What an incredible milestone—and what a beautiful reminder that when we walk in obedience to God’s call, He does the rest.

This journey hasn’t been easy. In fact, the past six months have been a labor of love. But it’s been one of the most fulfilling seasons of my life. Through prayer, meditation, hours of writing, and countless moments of surrender, God has shown me again and again that He is guiding my steps—and that this work matters.

And if you’re wondering if God has a purpose for your life, the answer is yes. That’s why this week’s meditation is especially close to my heart:
🎧 “What Is Your God-Given Assignment? – A Christian Meditation for Purpose and Guidance.”
This guided meditation will help you seek clarity, invite the Holy Spirit to lead, and begin walking in alignment with the divine purpose God has placed within you. You can find the link to tune in at the bottom of this page.

Anchor of the Week: Guided by God’s Hand

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O’ Lord, endures forever.” – Psalm 138:8

You were created on purpose—for a purpose. Even when life feels uncertain, God’s plan is unfolding, and He will finish what He started in you.

Gratitude Corner: 1,000 Souls and Counting

This week, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.

I’m thankful for:

  • Every person who has subscribed, commented, and prayed with us.

  • The divine assignment God has trusted me with—one video, one prayer, one heart at a time.

  • The strength He’s given me to keep going, even when I have moments of being scared or unsure.

Take a moment today to thank God for your own assignment—whether it’s visible to the world or quietly lived out behind the scenes. It all matters.

My Story: From Striving to Surrender

For a long time, I wore strength like a mask. I worked my way up in careers that gave me financial stability, including six-figure positions. But behind that success was a soul silently breaking.

I had spent most of my life in survival mode—navigating deep trauma from childhood, toxic relationships, poor health, and internal wounds that never seemed to heal.

I lived in chronic anxiety. I was battling an autoimmune disease, amongst a handful of other ailments. To cope, I turned to alcohol—a slow, silent poison that I used to numb everything I didn’t want to feel.

I carried this for over twenty years. Sure, I functioned, and I even excelled in the eyes of others, but I was dying inside.

Then, one day, it all came crashing down. I hit the end of myself. My body couldn’t take it anymore. My spirit was dry, and I finally collapsed, not just in exhaustion, but in surrender.

I prayed like I never had before:
“God, take this. Please, take this addiction from me. I can't carry it anymore.”

And then—He answered.

Not in a whisper. Not gently. But loud, firm, and undeniable.
I heard Him say:
“This will kill you if it continues.”

That voice broke through every layer of denial, shame, and resistance I had built around myself. I knew it was God. I knew He had been trying to reach me for years.

That Monday morning marked the end of my addiction. I haven’t touched alcohol since. And this past Thursday—the very day Anchored in Faith reached 1,000 subscribers—marked two full years of sobriety.

God didn’t just deliver me from something. He delivered me into something.

He began reshaping my life—quietly, gently, powerfully. I quit the security of a 9-5, I started spending more time in the Word. I returned to the meditative practices I’d been using for years to get through anxiety—but now, I filled those moments with Scripture and prayer. I wasn’t just seeking calm. I was seeking Christ.

Soon, I felt a clear pull in my spirit:
“Share this. Teach others. Walk them through it.”

And that’s when Anchored in Faith was born. Not as a business. Not as a brand. But as a calling. A way to share my voice, my prayers, my pain, and ultimately, my healing—with anyone who needed to hear, “You’re not alone. And God still has a purpose for your life.”

I never thought at 46 years old I’d be starting completely over.
I never imagined I’d walk away from a career that once defined my identity and paid all my bills—only to find my true identity was rooted in Christ and that money is not the most important thing, but that God is.

I never thought I’d get over the paralyzing anxiety that had haunted me for most of my life.
I never imagined I could live without alcohol—not for a weekend, let alone two years.

I never thought my voice was anything special.
I never knew how to edit. I didn’t know how to build a website.
I had no clue how to grow a YouTube channel.

But here I am—speaking, writing, sharing, creating—and reaching hearts in multiple countries and even across the planet (God bless you, Gillian ❤️🙏), all because I said yes to God.

So if your life feels uncertain right now… if you’re standing at the edge of something unfamiliar…
don’t be surprised if God has a different plan for you.

And don’t doubt what’s possible when God is involved.

He doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
And friend, if you’re reading this, you’ve been called.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Nothing in your life is wasted. God will use every detail—every setback, every victory, every broken moment—for His purpose.

Christian Mindfulness: Aligning with God’s Assignment

Take a few minutes this week to breathe deeply and listen.

  1. Close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath.

  2. As you inhale, pray: “God, reveal my assignment.”

  3. As you exhale, say: “I surrender my plans to You.”

  4. Sit in silence for a few moments and allow God to speak to your heart.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or you just joined recently, you are part of this, and I thank God for YOU!
